Working behind the panel of airplanes is a pain. We took the front seat out which made access a lot easier. We replaced all the rotted pitot-static tubing with Tygon (PVC) which didn't take long. When we checked the pitot side, everything was tight. We checked the static side and it leaked like a sieve. After blocking lines in sequence we finally found the leak in the altitude encoder. We pulled it out to have a look and the leak seemed to be at the pressure transducer. After spending a lot of time figuring out what to do, we decided to reinstall it. While doing that several wires came loose from the connector. On close inspection it was apparent that connector was improperly made up. That was a long time ago. Now the Museum has to make some choices about how to handle the transponder/encoder situation.
