Embracing change in the pursuit of happiness

Few things are as rewarding as discovering what we were born to do. When we discover our life purpose, it not only means we get more fulfilment out of life, it clarifies and adds context for each and every decision we make. It will motivate and bring joy. And it will change you.

Yes, sometimes people won’t recognize you anymore. And sometimes if you look back you won’t even recognize yourself. Perhaps because you now realize that you are not required to set yourself on fire to keep others warm!
Not only accepting change, but embracing it, is in my opinion a key aspect of happiness. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying change everything just for the sake of it! But let the natural order of time flow, embrace it and beautiful things will happen.

A lot of things are changing in my life, both personally as well as professionally. And honestly, yes I do get nervous sometimes. This is natural. With change we don’t know exactly what the outcome will be. Our brains are designed to find peace in knowing. When we do not know what will happen, usually we think about different scenarios of what an outcome may be.
The result is that we worry. If we don’t know how something will turn out, we may rather not try because the outcome could be bad. So here you have the fear of failure lurking around the corner.
Trying something new becomes a risk, so it becomes easier to stick what is known.

The funny thing is if you honestly look at life, at some point in it everything was once unknown. That’s why it is important not to be afraid of it. Learn to accept the unknown every day, week, month and year.

Speaking of which
What an incredible year 2021 personally so far turns out to be. Some time ago we were chosen by a realtor to be eligible to buy a brand new house. And we did. Delighted as we were, nothing could prepare us how magical it is to see a building being erected brick by brick knowing someday you will call it home. And that’s not all, we were so lucky to exactly get the house we both wished for. While we had our delays furnishing due to stores having logistical problems, right now we are in the process of moving. And if that wasn’t enough, this year I’m starting in a new organisation with a new and exciting job. A job in which I’m meeting people with a wide and varied life experience who are very easy to gravitate towards. And most of all, I’m changing too.

Always embrace change in the pursuit of happiness.
Find your voice, stand behind it and change the world.
