Erected from 1732 by the margravial chief building director Karl Friedrich von Zocha. In 1749 the castle and dominion forest went to a son of Margrave Carl Wilhelm Friedrich
von Brandenburg-Ansbach (called "Wilder Margrave") from his relationship with Elisabeth Wünsch.
