For the last two days Bloke and I have been going over an airplane that the 1940 Air Terminal Museum is raffling off as a find raiser. The museum wants Bloke to fly it over to West Houston Airport next weekend for a display to sell raffle tickets. Bloke, being no fool, wants to go over the airplane with a fine tooth comb before flying it. It is a Aeronca 7FC, basically a Champ with a nose wheel.
We spent the last two days inspecting and testing. It is in reasonable shape, actually, Our squawk list was short. One nagging item was a 200 rpm drop on the left magneto. We cleaned the plugs and all that stuff, but when retested, the same problem occurred. That makes it a no-go. So at the end of the day we retreated and developed a plan of attack. I will keep you posted.
Today's photo is of Phil, a museum volunteer, watching Bloke do a run up. On days like today, one always sits in the shade.
