This is not my father. How do I know? I never saw my father wearing a cap or hat of any kind. I have a picture of him wearing a hat in 1929, but that was long before my time. I remember wondering why he never wore headgear, but never asked why. Now, I wish I had. Walt was a golfer. He had the same bag for years. His bag was dark red in color. It was minimalistic. Even the clubs were few in number and not a matched set. He didn't need all of the "frills." Or, more likely, he was just frugal. He once told me a good golfer can play well with just a few clubs. I had the impression that he prided himself on that. Walt golfed a lot...especially after he retired. When I was a young boy, he taught me how to play. He took me with him to walk the course and hear about the rules, etiquette, and strategy. He also showed me the proper grips and stances, etc. I was excited when he first let me hit a ball with one of the clubs from his bag. It was unforgettable father-and-son "quality time" as we now call it.
