Plà de Grau

The Pla de Grau of Malgrat de Mar, is a large protected agricultural area of about 400 hectares, where garden products are grown and marketed through the Cooperativa Agrícola Progres-Garbí, located within the municipality of Malgrat de Mar. The most common garden products that we can find are potatoes, lettuce, tomato, tender bean, endive or fesol del ganxet (ganxet bean). Precisely, it is the latter, the endive and the fesol del ganxet, which have become the most important products from Pla de Grau to Malgrat. The Fesol del ganxet was considered as a product with protected designation of origin (PDO). Most of the production is sold directly to markets and restaurants. Regarding endive, the other star product of the Malgrat orchard in the Pla de Grau, about 4 million a year are exported to the French market mainly.
