Sometime in the late nineteen-fifties to early nineteen-sixties Walt Waggoner brought home something I had never seen before. He came upstairs carrying a compressor, tank, hoses, etc. that he then mounted on a board. Then he pulled out a black case containing instruments of some sort. Huh, I thought? What is that? He told me he was setting up to start tinkering with an airbrush like he had at work. Some of the cartoons I have posted are the result of his using that airbrush. I particularly like this drawing because it represents Dad as what he was, both a technical illustrator and a cartoonist. My guess is that he was drawing this rivet and lecturer in preparation for creating a slide to use in teaching others how to airbrush. Or, it could have been that it would have been just to show the advantages of airbrushing.
