A casa particular is a Spanish term that usually means "private home" but the term is recognized worldwide as private accommodation or private homestays in Cuba. We stayed at these exclusively and, for the most part, they were excellent. They were very reasonable and we each had our own bedroom and bathroom. They included great home cooked breakfasts every day and cost us each between $35 and $50 per day. Due to US State Department rules, we were not allowed to stay in any regular hotels. Even if we had been allowed to, I would have definitely done it this way. Many of these casas particulares are listed on AirBnB and Trip Advisor.
