In viewing these cartoons, I feel as if I am looking back into the world of my father. In this case, it is 76 years ago. It is like he is telling a story or personal reflection from his own experiences. For a while, I rode the South Shore Line in Chicago on a daily basis. When I once mentioned that to him, he told me that he had ridden the EL back and forth between home, work and school in the 1930's. Did he use that as a backdrop for this statement about human nature?
