Planet Word: A linguistic elevator

We finally paid a visit to Planet Word, a new museum in DC that focuses on language. You might not think such an unusual museum would be too popular, but there were a lot of people there who seemed fascinated by the interactive displays. I loved it and definitely want to go back to spend more time there.

Pictured is one of the elevators at the museum that I thought was pretty creative.

From Wiki: Planet Word is a language arts museum that opened in Washington, D.C., in October 2020. The museum is described as "The museum where language comes to life" and features exhibits dedicated to topics such as the history of the English language, how children learn words and how music and advertising use words. It is located in Franklin Square at the historic Franklin School, built in 1869.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

What a great idea! Though I imagine a few people might miss their floor.

not much time between floors though...maybe a haiku or two would do...

I'm intrigued. I'd probably become engrossed in a book and miss my floor, several times.

quite original that elevator, at first sight look like a a metal safe, great shot!

That is really creative. Love the contrast between the steel elevator and the warm color of the books. V

Sounds like a unique place to explore. Certainly a novel elevator with lots to read should it ever break down??

Are those actual books or is it wallpaper?

You’d forget to get off the elevator while reading what books are displayed.
