Red Mountain Pass is located on US 550 south of Ouray and is part of the 25 mile stretch of this highway referred to as The Million Dollar Highway. The Million Dollar Highway description refers to a 25 mile stretch of US 550 considered one of the most scenic drives in Colorado. The pass peaks at 11,018 feet with steep grades, winding curves and the challenge of keeping your eyes on the road if you are the driver. This is the route south to Silverton, Colorado.
