volatile

the extreme heat has moved inland, where conditions in the forests were already volatile...Lytton, the small town where Canadian record temps were just recorded, was hit last night by a wildfire.. about 7pm residents (approx 250 people) were told to evacuate immediately, just as flames started to set buildings alight...word is still sketchy, but apparently most of the town has burned to the ground..unfortunately it's just the start of another grim fire season in BC

an early afternoon update now reports that 90% of Lytton has been destroyed by flames...so far no loss of life as residents got out very quickly

it's frightening to see this forest being consumed and the thick smoke and flames engulfing a whole town. What a catastrophic scenario!

Sad. But makes a great red and black abstract. V

Grim indeed.

What a tragedy. There are few things, if any, scarier than a wildfire. Hope conditions continue to improve.

That is terrifying. I am glad no lives were lost, but many probably ruined. The red color is deceivingly beautiful. V

Oh dear, that's frightening news. Good to learn no loss of life. The photo sure fits the text.

Certainly evokes recent memories of wildfires. Tragic to hear of yet another community destroyed by wildfire.

Looks like you have smoky skies - pity it's a bad sign !! I heard two deaths have been recorded from the Lytton fire :(

An apt image for the events you describe. Fiery and rather hellish.

A nice image David. I sure hope your temperatures our west will moderate soon.

First the record heat, then the town bursts in to flames...such bad luck. I hope everyone got out safe including animals.
A fine image to illustrate it all. V

So sad and tragic. I fear it is just the beginning in what may become a very bad fire season due to the lack of rain.

Heartbreaking to hear about these catastrophic events.

That is a sad and moving story,. I didn't even think of fire
when hearing about the heat.

Wow, that's pretty shocking as well as sad to hear.

j'espère qu'ils seront rapidement maitrisés ! je me souviens que l'année dernière, ces incendies avaient été catastrophiques ! v
