1972, 26TH JUNE - PAUL SAMPSON, LEANDER ANNEXE MESS, I'M BACK ROW, FIRST LEFT..jpg

Steve Cassidy said - I can name a few of the lads, I am 3rd from left middle row (best lookin' one obvs!).My Mate Melvin Jukes extreme R middle row, He and I went to Leanders for a year, then both back to Ganges in '74 as ships company! what a dream posting that was. Neil Taylor next to Melv, next guy is Lagan who I think was sent home before we left the annex, or very soon after. Trevor Curry to my right and Gus Howe on the right of Trev. Front row second from L is Brian Findlay, with Chalky White ('cos his name was white) on his left. Next to the chief is Dave "bullet" Millward, he and I drafted to Diomede after Ganges. Next to Dave is "Cockney" Ewen, ('cos he was from london!) supported palace if i remember right.Back row, the little guy is Phil Shaw - he and I joined the bugle band - me drums, Phil bugle. he was very good at it and used to play reveille on leave mornings when we all had to get up about 4 am to pile on to buses to Ipswich station - he blew it all jazzed up for the occasion,(the tune was jazzed up, not Phil), if any one remembers. next to Phil is Tommy Hawthorn from Belfast. Paul Sampson is extreme L. I think the lad next to Paul is called Lewis (surname). I'm sorry to the lads whose names I forget
