near Winchcombe, Glos. view map

Apparently, the common hogweed is a member of the carrot family...who knew (not me)?

Based on what everyone is saying, it is a real troublemaker.

Yes, hogweed is a 'monitored' invasive here. Hard to believe it was used as a decorative garden plant with the sap being so potentially dangerous.

Very nicely photographed. I did not know that either.
Can't look at this without thinking of the Genesis song "The Return of the Giant Hogweed".

In France if you find giant hogweed (it’s sap can cause serious burns to the skin if exposed to sunlight) you should report it and the council will come and remove the plants.
Great angle for the image Doug.

Hogweed sap is toxic to humans..apparently :(

I didn't know that, but now that you mention it... I see the resemblance in the white flowers. Very pretty greenery there today.

What a fabulous shot of this gigantic plant! Love the angle too. V

indeed it is...here in the distant colonies it is known as cow parsnip...best observed and not touched however..
