Goodbye Lincoln

The reason for my lack of commenting is because we have been away.
After a year and a half we were finally able to visit my youngest son and his wife in Washington DC.
We are all vaccinated now so we put our masks on and took the train south.
It was a cold and rainy weekend but we had a warm and bright visit.
We traveled to Luray Caverns in Virginia and went to the Washington Arboretum.
Both wonderful places to visit and I’m excited to share some new photos.
We were sorry we didn’t have time to visit with Helen, Tim and Sahraa this time.
This is the scene I saw out the train window as we left DC.

A marvellous view of this excellent art work. An odd place to find Lincoln, in some ways, but yhen he was a man of the people! V

A very well composed shot from the train window - not easy to do. How nice to get away and see family!

A different view of DC that most of us haven't seen. Fascinating contrasting elements. The building side mural looks very 3d. ~BV~

The lines framing Lincoln are excellent. Such a fine layered composition. I am glad you got to visit with your son and his wife. V

This has a somewhat vintage look to it also. Nice one!

So many wires and lines and angles and shapes - such a busy scene! So glad you were able to get away for while to visit family.

And I know exactly where that's located since I photographed it a while ago! Glad you were able to visit, but Sahraa will be disappointed to learn she missed out on some attention from you and Charlie. V.

A part of DC we would never see. I like it very much. "VV"

Beautiful image - love the way his cape was draped around the window BUT artistically I think he should have been placed at the right of the building. Glad you were able to get to DC. We have spoken to our kids who are on Long Island and in Philadelphia about meeting in DC so none of us would have that hugely long trip to our from western NC.
