I had read about this crocheted mural of Vice President Kamala Harris, which is hung on the side of a restaurant in the very busy Wharf area and refers to a rebuke she gave Mike Pence when he interrupted her during the vice presidential debate. Traffic is pretty impossible down there, so we waited for a rainy day when we’d at least be able to find a place to park.
According to the sign accompanying it:
“This mural project was led by LA-based street artist and ‘yarn bomber’ London Kaye and completed with the help of over 150 volunteers from around the world.
“Each person crocheted a square that was stitched together to create this 40 foot piece celebrating Kamala Harris, our first Madam Vice President. It was hung on International Women’s Day 2021 at The Wharf.
“This is the sixth mural made by @loveacrosstheusa, a community art initiative started by the renowned artist Olek in 2015 that celebrates women’s voices.”
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.
