The above Female Black Bird accidently flew into our Solar Room. Opening the screen door for the dogs, I felt something suddenly zoom over my head and past me into the Solar Room. Once inside, the bird couldn't figure out how to get back out. Finding herself in an alien "indoors" environment, she panicked.
However even after I opened all three, 6 foot wide, sliding doors wide, I couldn't convince this bird that the open doors were her safe way back out. Not wanting to frighten the bird even more by chasing after her, we had to leave everything wide open for 2 days before this bird finally decided that one of the open doors was an exit. Meanwhile, she left poop here & there for me to clean up. Ugh. This is our first bird visitor to ever do so. I'm not a happy camper about her behavior.
Luckily, she never got into the main parts of the house. Just the Solar Room.
The one time that we did have a cardinal accidently get into the main living area of the house, he flew into the Solar Room with the door open for the dogs, continued directly into the kitchen, and then, went on to the formal living room. Not knowing what to do, I opened the front door that leads outside from the foyer next to the living room. The cardinal immediately saw the open door and quickly exited without any problems. So are cardinals smarter than black birds? I have a feeling that if the black bird had gotten into the main part of the house, we'd still be living with her. The cardinal was also "clean"; the blackbird was not.
