G (Street) is for grasshopper

A few of these lamp post animals were included in the restoration society scavenger hunt, but they’re actually part of the Capitol Hill Alphabet Animal Art Project, funded by the District and executed by the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. The artists created animals and insects to match the street names, so this grasshopper is on 7th and G Street SE. I may make a separate gallery for their decorations, haven’t decided yet.

*****

The Capitol Hill Restoration Society has a "whimsical" scavenger hunt on their website in which you're given a large number of addresses on the Hill (along with pictures with no addresses), at which people have works of "art" in their front yards. Some of them are quite showy, some are small and rather ordinary, but we spent the afternoon tracking most of them down, and these are the resulting pictures. The society first introduced this tour last year but was again promoting it for their 2021 Mother's Day "Tour of Tours," so we thought we'd take them up on the challenge. Which it definitely was.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Nice Grasshopper shot looks like a little bit of work involved in making one of there plus installing it.
Nice composition against the lovely blue sky with nice sharp detail.

Not sure if I know the difference between a grasshopper and a cicada, but this is cute... I've heard that the latter are on their way any day now...

How cool! Love this, and your shot. Your city has an abundance of art, both in people's gardens and in public spaces, which is great. V
