Our first day in New River Gorge National Park. This park was established this year. It was the New River Gorge National River before that for about 17 years. We hit the outfitter we are going to use for a float trip tomorrow then went to the only open Visitor Center in the park. The others don't open until Memorial Day. This is the 52nd (of 62) National Parks we have visited.

There was a lot of driving today in order to see many of the good features of the park. We visited Thurmond, Sandstone Falls and Grandview. The weather was not great, but the heavy rain fell while we were in the car on the way to Sandstone Falls. Photography was a challenge because to the weather. The white skies make crappy backgrounds. Tomorrow doesn't look like it will be any better. When it rains we use plan B which is Plan A with rain gear.
