April 24

I was lamenting the massive dandelion population in the yard wondering how I could reasonably deal with them without resorting to pesticides when a flock of American Gold Finches swooped in for the afternoon. We don't see them often and it was a treat to have two dozen in the yard feasting on, you guessed it, dandelion seeds. Maybe dandelions aren't such a problem after all.

I don’t mind the dandelions, either. I rather have them than poison in my garden!

The flowers are good for honey bees too.

Dandelions were one of your dad's favorite flowers, I've heard...

And, they're pretty (when flowering that is !! ) Cool that the finches like them. V

Nice! Dandelions are good in so many ways, but if they really bother you! Try getting sheep because they eat them like candy? They will keep grazing the dandelions until the run out of energy. Then have a BBQ and over seed your lawn with white dutch clover. The clover fixes nitrogen for the grass to use and the bees will thank you! None of the lawn product you saved money on because you didn't buy it ends up in the water. Then next year do it again and I expect to be invited to that BBQ!
