Woodhouse's Scrub Jay

Ivins, Utah

Gathering nesting materials in/around the low brush going into Jenny's Canyon at Snow Canyon State Park.
Yes, that certainly looks like fishing line in this one's bill; problem - no water around!
My Smithsonian Handbook calls this Jay a "Western Scrub Jay", but eBird says "Woodhouse's Scrub Jay".

Beautiful shot of this colourful Jay! I remember seeing them in Arizona. The woodhouse scrub jay was split of as a seperate species from the Western Srub Jay, with 2 other species: the California Scrub Jay and island scrub Jay (Santa Cruz island).

Nice to see this bird and get a great photo. It is a mystery about the fishing line.
