#9: Macro

Beechwood Cemetery

This pretty red Blister Beetle, Tricrania sanguinipennis, is one I always look for in early spring when the Colletes bees (ground-nesting bees) begin to fly. I never see many, which is probably just as well, because the beetle is a parasitoid of these bees and other bees that nest in aggregations (colonial nesters).

To see others scavenging in April: https://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48996&p=385415&sid=87c90f51ca6b7c8d06b2957a1d7a2d8f#p385415

interesting how the image seems 3D, particularly with the angle of the grass blades...a mighty macro for sure..
