Panettone #4

For the past four weeks I have been taking advantage of our large crop
of navel oranges. Besides making Tequila Sunrises, orange jam, and
candied orange peel, I have been practicing making the Italian Christmas bread,
panettone. The same bread in a different shape is made at Easter, la colomba.

My first attempt used an Americanized recipe from King Arthur Flour. I graded it C-.
After studying several Italian YouTube video, the next two attempts were a C+ and a B-.
This week, after more study and recipe adjustments yielded my grade of a B+.
A more discerning judge might have awarded a solid B.

There is still much room for improvement. I'll try again next week.

I agree with Jim: it looks like an A to me too. I'm sure it was delicious and without anything to compare it to, I would think it tastes like an A too. Good luck getting the future versions up to your expectations. ~BV~

It sure looks like an "A" to me! Last Christmas I bought my first ever panettone and the family loved it. I think it will be an annual tradition and now I know to look for it this coming Easter. I got it at Trader Joe's and saw it was also available at Sprouts Farmers Market. We also have a navel orange tree but nobody in the family is good at baking.
