Portrait of a Beet

Beets seem to be something people love or hate.
Some people say they taste like dirt
and others praise them as Mana from Heaven.
Like most food it depends on the preparation.
It is an old world food that has many homes.
Search “Borscht” and you'll see what I mean.
It is a health food, in fact it’s a superfood.
This is a Fuer Kugel Beet.
A very old variety.
Long history

Cool shot with nice details and colors. "V" Seems that beets were more popular in the old country than they are here. I do go to a smoothie shop where they sell "The Vampiro" made of celery, beet, carrot and orange. It gets the name because it looks like blood.

Here they are Beetroot, always popular either roasted, shredded raw or preserved in vinegar and sugar cut into slices or dices eaten with salad...love them . V

It has a beauty. I also like the greens which is the healthiest part. I haven't had homemade Borsht since grandmother made it up to 1957. Good stuff!
