No Sweat

Okay, so this is one I took yesterday.
Mondays are our deadline day and I made the mistake of not taking a photo at lunchtime when the sun was shining.
Anyway this is probably more interesting that whatever I could have snapped around the house.
It's a sweat house at Dulargy, Co Louth. Sweat houses are believed to have been constructed up until the end of the 19th century.
They were small stone huts with a small entrance. Fires were lit inside the building to heat the stones and after it had died down, the ashes swept out.
People would then enter the house, the door would be sealed, and they would remain there for several hours.
This was believed to be a cure for several ailments.

If it doesn't cure them, there's always the possibility of dying from asphyxiation from the fire having sucked up most of the oxygen. At that point the maladies will lose their effectiveness.

An Irish sauna of sorts. I do believe that 'warming your bones' does cure some ailments and general aches and pains. V

They thought the letting of blood a good idea also :)) I'm sure furry animals have found it comfortable too.
