Housesteads Fort

The building was a granary for storing foods of all kinds, not just grain for bread. Granaries had
strong buttressed stone walls with overhanging roofs, and raised floors to allow circulation of air
and stop moisture and rodents spoiling the supplies. The small pillars seen here are the floor supports.
