Burro Crossing

Big Bend Ranch S.P. Texas

Feral Burros are a big problem here. They are invasive and compete with the native animals for the limited food and water in the desert.
Texas Parks and Wildlife has a program to 'remove' them.
If you are curious about that, here's a link to their website page on controlling burro population.

Well the one on the sign certainly looks like a trouble maker!

More mountain lions equal less burros.

We had them in NV when I lived there.

How interesting is that! I've never heard of a burro infestation. V.

There is a similar problem down here with wild horses in some of our natural parks, and similar solutions are being adopted... although the principal method is trying to rehome them. There is more of a market for cute horsies than for burros. Still, it's interesting to see such a road sign that is very distinctively a piece of "Americana".
