St Brigid's Day

St Brigid's Day on February 1st marks the start of spring in Ireland.
I've always thought that rather optimistic and it definitely was today as
it was wet and miserable.
This mural celebrates Brigid as both a Christian saint and a Celtic goddess.
It was painted by the Irish street artist Fritz for the Seek Urban Arts Festival last summer.

That's colourful! I like how the mural celebrates both aspects of St. Brigid's importance. I'm with the others though, and think of her as definitely Celtic

Love the mural and the explanation. I tend to think of her as a Celtic Goddess, but she has a dual persona I see. V

Super capture of this beautiful mural. Your image drew me in. I kept staring at the eyes (on each side of the mural) that seem to speak to the viewer. Each side tells an unique and different story. Does the weather in Ireland now start to feel more like Spring after St Brigid's Day?

This is an amazing mural, which is well captured. I must confess that I lean more to the Celtic half.

What a wonderful mural. So great it depicts both of her roles. I think in many ways the old religion was much better. "V"

superb artwork for the lovely lass from Louth...the earlier manifestation is most pleasing,, wearing the torc and clutching the poet's quill...tight framing serves you well here Mairead..

I like how her clothes depict the season going from the warmth of her cloak to warmer days. Perhaps it was like that in St Brigid's day. I like fiery background and that of her hair....this is really very beautiful. V
