Wolf Moon 1-28-21

The 11th Full Moon in our Stay-at-Home Isolation.

“It’s thought that January’s full Moon came to be known as the ‘Wolf Moon’ because wolves were more often heard howling at this time. It was traditionally believed that wolves howled due to hunger during winter, but we know today that wolves howl for other reasons.

Another fitting name for this full Moon is the ‘Center Moon’. Used by the Assiniboine people, it refers to the idea that this Moon roughly marks the middle of the winter season.”
The Old Farmers Almanac

The sky hasn’t totally cleared off here since the snow event on Wednesday. Although heavy rain isn’t expected until Saturday, additional clouds seem to be moving in. Fortunately, they are not yet thick enough to block out the moon. Still, my view of the moon tonight was influenced by atmospheric conditions. High clouds reflected the full moon’s brightness back as a golden glow around the moon.

Pretty cool as shot.
Usually it's difficult to capture both features & the glow around the moon with a digital camera;
as one might see with the naked eye.
Conditions were just right tonight.
