My husband, Doug, is a runner and a cyclist. Over the years he has run a number of races (5K, 10K, half marathons and
marathons) as well as duathlon events (various combinations of running and biking). As you can imagine, he has a lot
of ribbons (and a lot of trophies). The challenge is how to display the ribbons or at least his most recent ribbons! This
is the result! Of course, there's another story, another memory here! Notice the painting. My mother painted it. She
wanted to personalize it so first she sent a tracing of the wood to my cousin in Colorado who's a professional artist
(she had her own design company for many years after leaving Hallmark). Cousin Ginny created this sketch of Doug
running and biking through the apple orchards (we live in apple country where Motts Applesauce is made and my family
owns some apple orchards). My mom painted it and my sister-in-law insisted that she paint Doug wearing some of
Doug's outfits that Lorry loved (sadly Lorry unexpectedly passed in March 2015 at age 49 from undiagnosed pneumonia).
My mom would call me and ask me what color Doug's running shoes were as well as his cycling helmet, etc. This
was truly a group effort and is filled with so many memories.
Oh, and the blue carafe is a gift from another friend of mine! Another memory!
(UGH! I just noticed all the "sparkle" on the blue carafe! It's truly not there... :( )
