Originally a cathedral, it was blessed by Pope Urban II at the beginning of its construction in 1096
and finally completed in the 12th century. Around the end of the 13th century, it was rebuilt in
the Gothic style. The church remained the cathedral of Carcassonne until 1803, when it lost its
title to the current Carcassonne cathedral. The church was elevated to a minor basilica in 1898.
This is the Tree of Life window, dating from the 14th century.
