„Villa“ Fredheim is a trapper hut that belonged to the famous Norwegian trapper Hilmar Nĝis. Hilmar built Fredheim in 1924 and lived there for most of the time until 1963. During these years, he turned Fredheim from a primitive hut into a comfortable, cosy home. And indeed, Villa Fredheim is spacious, if not luxurious, compared to most other trapper huts in Spitsbergen. It has even got two floors!
