D2H-2004.jpg

Rocky Mountain National Park

Big horn mommy, this lady is middle age, the horns are about as long as females attain. Most of my large mammal images are portraits, if I came get close enough without changing their behavior. Most of these images are captured with 600mm f/4 or 400mm f/2.8, full frame or half frame cameras depending on distance to subject. I try to avoid enlarging as this lowers image quality. You are viewing the good ones, most are failures due to many factors, including pilot error. I should talk about cameras and mega pixels. This image was shot with a lower resolution camera (D2H) compared to todays 24 megapixel bodies. Even at the low pBase resolution you can see eyelashes.
