The remains of Sutro Baths

What remains of the worlds largest indoor swimming pool complex, opened in 1896.

Located on the Pacific Ocean side of San Francisco bay.

The high tides fed the six salt water pools and during low tide, water was pumped into the pools

It was financially challenged due to high maintenance costs.

It burned down in 1966 while it was being destroyed for redevelopment.

It is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area

it does seem huge...too bad it didn't survive, yet there is still the Pacific for salt water bathing...a fine shot..
