Colin Chapmans superb design and innovative Lotus Elite.
The entire chassis was made of fiberglass for lightness and rigidity.
The suspension in the read used the Chapman strut, the front suspension
consisted of fairly conventional A arm style of the period. The
engine was the beautiful single overhead cam Coventry Climax. Off the
top of my head I don't remember the displacement but 1,100 cc's stick to my
memory. I may be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
The Elite had such a clean, simple and elegant design and yet was so
far ahead of its time.
