I remember hearing my mother say this saying when I was a child. I thought it was an old wives
tale but there is truth to it. There's a scientific explanation but basically storms typically
move from west to east. The setting sun's light travels through the atmosphere and the reds we
see means that there is little moisture and more dust particles in the air (that's why we have
beautiful sunsets during wildfire season). Little moisture means generally nice stable weather.
The saying held true in this case as we had beautiful weather the next day!
