80 years ago, the tongue of the Rhone glacier extended all the way down to the valley floor.
Today, the glacier end is located high up in the mountains, where its waters form a small lake.
The outflow of this lake, that gushes down this rock face, is the source of the river Rhone.
Experts estimate that 80 years from now this glacier will be completely gone.
