Another trip to the range today. This time out I was testing my newly repaired Colt Gold Cup. The front sight had come loose. I found a local gunsmith and asked him to have a crack at straightening it out. I ran 100 rounds through it at the range this morning and the front sight was still tight. Good news. The Gold Cup is one autoloader that I can shoot fairly well. Also, it is really cool. The Model 1911 design is a tough one to beat.
I tried to copy and paste this photo onto my PC to have a closer look at the cases.
Did not work, so I just dragged it onto my screen worked fine.
I dont know if it mattered but every case of mine in a box of 100 was the same make.
And had been tumbled to a mirror finish.
I knew a few shooters who had problems with a loose front sight. Colts and Brownings if I remember right. They were staked in, a bad design.
