A True One Owner Car
Brigadier General William S. Rader, and his wife, Major Stephanie Rader,
both USAF (ret.), purchased this auto new in 1950 from Akers Oldsmobile-Cadillac
of Alexandria, VA. For 57 years the Raders faithfully recorded every tank of gas,
oil change, and repair made to the car. In 1994, they had the car fully restored
to showroom condition. And, prior to donating the car to the Gilmore Car Museum in
2007, they had after-market Cadillac insignias added to the vehicle.
Cadillac began its trek of becoming America's premier luxury car with the classics
of the 1930s and, by the end of the 1950s no other marque shared its prestige or its
sales. Ownership of a Cadillac became a status symbol of achievement and wealth.
Elvis Presley owned a Cadillac, as did captains of industry, Hollywood moguls, even
war-hero and future President, Five-Star General Dwight D. Eisenhower.
