This aircraft was license build in Canada, based on the Grumman S-2 Tracker, which was originally designed for anti-submarine warfare. First S-2 flight was in 1952. The Canadian built machines were based on the early "A" models to keep them short enough to actually fit down the elevators of HMCS Bonaventure, as later models were too long. This aircraft, along with others, were later converted for fire fighting, hence the 'box' you see under the belly of the aircraft.

Cheers!

Great capture, what an unusual plane. ~V~Would you happen to know the type and its role?
