Hagg's Wynd

Culross, Fife

Quite amusing to read on some internet sites that the word 'Hagg'
means 'a clearing where trees were once felled!'
Not in Scotland....here it's another term for an old witch!
As Culross was notorious for 'Witch Trials' throughout the 1600's
it seems fairly obvious that's where this street name comes from!
