The Royal Gorge

The early surveyors reported that there is no room to build a railroad in this canyon. In fact, even animals stayed away for lack of room. Interestingly, two competing railroad companies started to build two tracks up the valley for the lucrative mining businesses above Cañon City, Colorado!
