Basilica of Saint Servatius

Maastricht

The large three-aisled cross basilica is largely built in Romanesque style using
coal sandstone and marl. The church building serves as the Roman Catholic parish church
Saint Servatius parish and deanery church of Maastricht. Since 1985 the church has held the title basilica
minor(basilica). The church is believed to have been built on the tomb of Saint Servatius and is considered
as the oldest surviving church in the Netherlands.
