De Majestas Domini of Christus in majesteit is een bekend thema uit de christelijke iconografie. Het is een
voorstelling van Christus die haar wortels heeft in de Eschatologie. Het stelt de glorierijke verrezen Christus

The Majestas Domini or Christ in Majesty is a well-known theme from Christian iconography. It is a
representation of Christ who has its roots in Eschatology. It represents the glorious risen Christ
for, who returns at the end of time, in a cloud of light. Christ is often presented in one
mandorla, seated on a rainbow, a cloud, a sphere representing the cosmos or the world, or on a
throne with the world at his feet, and a book or scroll in his hand, whether or not surrounded by other figures.
