This little installation on the east shore of Quadra Island
was originally built to commemorate five people who died in
the crash of a float plane in 2005. The plaque naming the
victims is still there, but people keep maintaining the site
with decorations and messages with a more general theme of
optimism and kindness. The roof was recently repainted and
a colourful broom has been attached to the roof. The meaning
of the broom escapes me, but the effect is charming.

Nice that they have this, keep it up and keep adding more items to this installation. Like the clarity and detail in this image.

Very charming and pretty scene, and nice that people are maintaining the memorial. The broom on the roof is a bit of a puzzler! V

What a nice memorial - that people look after it is such a great way of keeping it going - the families probably appreciate it. V

My guess is that the broom is there to repaint the rook next time. Just a guess. V

a broom at a memorial is curious...perhaps one crash victim was a curling enthusiast who preferred to use a vintage corn brush..

A now charming scene, but I'm glad the original plaque is still there. V.
