This model started out as an Athearn GP38-2 blue box model decorated for Conrail purchased in LaGrange, Georgia in 1992. I added EMD decals to the nose and hood sides after distressing the Conrail logos but the effect was not great. Years later I found a factory painted shell with the scheme I was trying to recreate and that shell is seen here mounted to the original blue box drive. Loads of details were added and the model was weathered. Recently I worked on the fuel tank and this series of photos was taken following that work.
