It was a rainy day so I decided to replace the window seals on the Cessna. I had purchased the replacements quite a while ago. I am willing to bet the ones I removed were original equipment and therefore 68 years old. Getting the old stuff off wasn't hard. Cleaning up the old adhesive was a challenge. I spent quite a while with MEK soaked paper towels getting it off.
It rurns ouf that installation was not going to be a snap as I had hoped. The bottom part of the window opening has a bracket on the inside for positioning the door panel. Unfortunately, the intact seal would not push down into that gap and I had to trim it by about 6 mm to get it to go in there. This was very time consuming. When I finally got it all fitted, I was hot and sweaty and a gin and tonic back a the house sounded like a real good idea. Tomorrow I will glue it on. If I feel like it.
