In the name of God Amen, I Robert Cockeram late of Egleston within the Isle of Purbeck and county of Dorset Gent being in good health and of perfect memory praise be given to Almighty God do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following Ffirst and principally I give and commend my soule in the hands of Almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body I commit to the earth to be buried where it shall seeme fitt to my executrix whom I shall hereafter in this my last Will nominate and and appoint; Now to ……… the disposing of my lands goods and chattels my will is as followeth that is to saye, first I give and bequeath unto the parish church of Tyneham within the Isle and county aforesaid I give the some of ten shillings and to the poore of the same place I give the some of ten shillings to be distributed amongst them by the discretion of my said executrix within short tyme after my buriall ITEM I give & bequeath unto my sonne Dennys Cockram and his heirs all my land ????? hereditaments whatsoever with their appurtenances in Sherborne Newland Oborne Castletown within the said county of Dorset ITEM I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth all my meadowes land ????? hereditaments in Castletown in the said county of Dorset with their appurtenances whatsoever to have and to hold unto her and her heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth the some of two hundred pounds provided always that if it shall happen my said daughter Elizabeth to dye before she shall come unto the full age of sixteen years then my will is and I give and bequeath one hundred marked parcel of the same legacie of two hundred pounds to Katherine Cockeram my grandchild one of the daughters of my sonne William Cockeram and my will is also that when the residue of the said legacie of two hundred pounds shall be equally divided to and amongst the residue of the children of my sonne William and also my said sonne Dennys Cockeram which shall be living at the tyme of my death also my said daughter Elizabeth ITEM I give and bequeath unto Alice Talbott my grandchild being the daughter of my sonne in law William Talbott the some of one hundred pounds which legacie I will and doe appoint shall be payed by my said executrix unto Richard Rypes of Child Okeford in the sayd county of Dorsett Gent and Bruine Cockram Clarke my nephew within one yeare next after my decease and I doe desire my said friende Richard Rypes and Bruine Cockeram to lett out the same carefully for the best profitt they may lawfully make of the same until the said Avice shall accomplish her age of sixteen years And at her age of sixteen years to paye unto her the said some of one hundred pounds together with such proffitt as they have thereof made or to deliver unto her such assurance as they have taken for the same provided always that if it shall happen the said Alice Talbott to dye before shee shall come to the age of sixteen yeares then my will is and I give and bequeath the said some of one hundred poundes together with such proffitt as have beene thereof made by the said Richard Rypes and Bruine Cockeram to and amongst the children of my said sonne William and of the children of my said sonne Dennys Cockeram which shall be liveing at the tympe of the death of the said Avice Talbott not dyeing before her age of sixteen years by even and equall parts to be devided amongst them ITEM I give unto Bruine Cockeram Clarke Parson of Sanwich the some of five poundes ITEM I give unto Bartholemew Cockeram the sonne of my brother John Cockeram the some of five pounds ITEM I give unto Rachell Carpenter my servant four pounds ITEM I give unto Richard Parsley my servant forty shillings ITEM I give unto every of my Godchildren five shillings a peece which said legacies I will to be payed within one one whole yeare next after my decease Andy whereas my sonne William Cockeram together with yther his suerties stand bound unto me and unto my brother in lawe Richard Crowill and unto Benjamin Byles my brother in lawe in the some of eight hundred pounds for the true payment of fower hundred poundes being being payable by the same bond within one year next after my death Now I do limitt and appoint the saide some of fower hundred pounds to be payed unto my said executrix for the better enabling her to pay all the legacies herein by me described and bequeathed and for the better performance of this my last will and testament. And I doe further give devise and bequeath unto my said executrix the said some of fower hundred pounds and the full and whole benefit of the same bond ITEM I give unto Anne my beloved wife for the terme of her of her life All that my toft of land or tenement and garden confeying by affirmacion h???? yard of ground (be it more of lesse) together with the houses at the East end and West Endes thereof lately erected and built by John Harding and by mee of him purchased together with all other my land rente hereditamente situate and being within the parish of the holy Trinity in Wareham in the sayde county of Dorsett and which I lately purchased and bought of the said John Harding unto me and my heirs And after the decease of the said Anne my wife I will that the said toft of land fent garden and other the said premises in Wareham aforesaid shall goe and remayne unto said daughter Elizabeth and the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten. And for default of such ????? then I will that my said toft of land fent garden and other the said premises in the parrish of the holy Trinity in Wareham aforesaid shall goe and remaine unto the saide Avice Talbott and to the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten and for default of such ????? then I will that the said toft of land fent and garden and other the premises in Wareham aforesaid shall goe and remaine unto my right heires forever And whereas there is a Defective tytle lately found out of the said tofte tent garden and other the premisses in Wareham aforesaid which is not as yet conveyed unto mee and my heirs as is intended and promised now my meaning is and I doe hereby direct that the same shall be conveyed unto my said wife daughter and grandchild in such manner as is before limited for the better strengthening of their estate and for the better performance of my intent ad meaning herein before expressed. And whereas I have a lease for divers years yet to come by tyme of fower acres of meadowe of thereaboute within the parrish of the holy Trinity in Wareham aforesaid. I doe give and bequeath all my said terme of and in the said fower acres of meadowe and all my estate right tytle and interest thereunto unto my said wife Anne for and during all the said term yet to come and unexpired All the rest of my goods chattles chattle debt plate household stuff and implements of house whatsoever not herein formerly given or bequeathed I give devise and bequeath unto my loving wife Anne whome I doe hereby constitute ordayne and make my full and whole executrix of this my last will and testament; I desire my brother Lewes Cockeram and my said nephew Bruine Cockeram Clarke to be ayding and assisting unto my said wife to see this my last will and testament pformed according to my true intent and meaning, In witnis whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the eleventh day of July in the fifth reigne of our Sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of God England Scotland Ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the Fayth Anno Domini one thousand six twenty nyne Robert Cockeram Memec????
