This is Crescent Falls, Alberta. I posted a photograph of this beautiful waterfall about a month ago.
Sadly, I must report that about a week ago, a 28-year-old man went for a swim in the pool at the base of the falls. He got caught in an undertow and disappeared. His uncle (38) and his aunt (35) went in to save him and succumbed to the same fate. If this was not tragic enough, the couples three children were standing on the shore and witnessed the entire event.
With most resorts and organized activities closed, many people are searching out our many back-country sights, which are easy to find with all the various apps one has on one's smart phone. However, they have no back-country experience. Accidental injuries and deaths in the back-country are up considerably this year.
These deaths do not show up in the COVID numbers, but they should.
