La Gleize is the village near Stoumont where the Germans were effectively defeated in their attempt to advance onto Ličge (Auf, auf, nach Lüttich) in December 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge. All this happened at a great cost of lives among the village population, the Allied Forces and the German troops.
